(CNN Spanish) — Culiacán International Airport, Sinaloa, in northwest Mexico, suspended operations as of 3:30pm local time, due to a series of protests by local farmers.
“In order to maintain the safety of passengers and facilities, the Local Airport Safety Committee has determined the closure,” the airport said. through his official Twitter account.
Videos shared on social media show dozens of people blocking the airport entrance. Several users are complaining and asking for these blocks to be done in other spaces.
Farmers in Sinaloa state staged demonstrations in the previous weeks demanding the federal government establish a guaranteed price for the purchase of corn and wheat.
