Emergency declared for acts of vandalism in the women’s prison in Honduras

(CNN Spanish) — The undersecretary of security and also in charge of the intervention in the prisons of Honduras, Julissa Villanueva, denounced acts of vandalism in the women’s prison of Támara, located in the department of Francisco Morazán.

He also said he responded with a “strong hand…we will not tolerate any vandalism or wrongdoing.”

“Immediate intervention is authorized with the accompaniment of firefighters, police and military; the emergency is declared,” added Villanueva.

There is still no official report on the number of injured or dead.
