(CNN Spanish) — The director of the Lo Real de Guerrero news portal, Nelson Matus, was shot and killed on a street in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood, in the port of Acapulco, in the Mexican state of Guerrero, according to the Attorney General’s Office of that state in a release.
On the spot, to investigate, agents of the Ministerial Investigative Police and personnel of the Expert Services went. There are no crime-related inmates so far.
The murder of the journalist was confirmed by the Lo Real de Guerrero portal itself through its social networks where it expressed its condolences to relatives.
“Lo Real de Guerrero expresses its sincere condolences on the delicate death of journalist Nelson Matus. We join in the deep pain that overwhelms his family and friends, offering our sincere condolences. Rest in peace,” reads the published obituary.
Matus’ death comes after the murder of Luis Martín Sánchez Iñíguez, a correspondent for the newspaper La Jornada in Tepic, Nayarit, was reported last week on July 8.
