Two people die of poisoning with an unknown substance in Baja California

(CNN Spanish) — The state attorney general’s office said in a statement Wednesday that two people were found dead in a hotel in the Pescadero community of Baja California’s Todos Santos district of intoxication with a yet-to-be-determined substance.

The attorney general’s office added that one of the deceased is a 22-year-old woman of US nationality. The second dead is a man whose age or nationality the authorities have not disclosed. The authorities did not specify in the statement whether or not the two people found were a sentimental couple.

Authorities said the coroner’s service of the PGJE, in the city of La Paz, carried out the forensic autopsy and added that they found no evidence of violence or altering the scene at the location.

The Attorney General added that the technical-scientific examination carried out by the PGJE coroners determined intoxication by a substance to be determined as the cause of death, with no traces of violence in the body and that the bodies had been lifeless for more than 10 hours in which they were found.
