(CNN Spanish) — This Monday, July 17, the winter holidays began in many Argentine provinces and will end on the 30th of the same month. The period generates great tourist movement throughout the country.
Those who decide to go on a trip to rest and have fun, choose Salta as one of the main destinations, according to the Argentine Tourism Observatory (OAT). From that city located in the northwest of the country it is possible to plan family excursions in the gorges, visit cities such as Cafayate and it is ideal to go with children.
The OAT estimates that Catamarca, another province in northern Argentina, will receive a tourism boom, as it is one of the main places Argentines have moved to during the winter break. Mendoza, in the Cuyo region, renowned for its vineyards, cellars and mountain viewpoints, is also awaited by thousands of tourists in the last days of July.
Similarly, Tandil, in the province of Buenos Aires, is another of the destinations chosen by Argentines, together with the city of Buenos Aires, full of museums, shows and a lively cultural nightlife with gastronomic proposals for all tastes.
Some of the most important tourist centers during the southern winter are found in Patagonia. In cities like San Martín de los Andes and San Carlos de Bariloche you can enjoy the snow in the different ski centers. There you can rent ski equipment or go with your own. Then, enjoy a regional deli and handmade chocolates available in shopping malls.
